Dancing in the rain (Part Two)

rain2I love trees, I’m fascinated by them. I admire the trees in my garden and on my drive to work. I find it extraordinary how in a short space of time, they can look so different and what’s more, is that they make everything around them look different too. Each season brings with it different challenges. They are hit with winds, storms, snow and frost but…spring comes and summer comes. They’re still standing. They still manage to look amazing. They still look dazzling and majestic, radiating out to everything around them with their blossom and abundance of green leaves.

When I reflect on the times I danced in the rain and radiated despite boulders hitting me, there is always one thing in common. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not mastered this, by no means, but I know for sure that when life remained goooood even when times were bad, I made the conscious decision to entrust my entire being, situation, circumstance, into the hands of the one who holds the entire universe in His hands. I wholly trusted in God.

When I think about the trees, they don’t know, day in or day out what’s coming their way. Despite what comes their way, they remain tall and majestic whatever the season, come rain, wind or shine. Their roots stay firmly and securely deep in the ground where they get what they need to survive. They don’t rely on anything else around them. All they need is the nourishment that comes up through their roots and gives them strength to keep standing tall.

Things change, circumstances change, people around us change; people around us have their own storms. One of the most valuable lessons life has taught me is not to rely on anything or anyone other than God. The one certainty in my life has been the knowledge that the God holding the entire universe together, cares so deeply for me. I am so important to Him. Who else would I want to entrust my life to but Him?

It’s not easy to get up in the middle of a storm. Storms make you feel weak, tired and powerless. The good news is, if you make the decision to give God a try and trust Him, you don’t need to rely on yourself. He gives supernatural strength in abundance, He gives us a peace that cannot be shaken, He fills us with joy. He can change our circumstances around and will do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3 v 20).

All we need to do is reach out to Him. Tell Him how you feel, tell Him you want His help. Trust Him and let Him radiate from you as you stand tall through the storms and rain of life.
