Don't let life's circumstances dim your radiance. Let your light shine and shine it bright!
About me
Hi, I’m Angelina.
Most of the time, no doubt the same as you, I’m caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. A mum, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, friend, employee, the list could go on but I’m sure you get the gist! The truth be known, I love being all these things. Being all these things makes me feel alive and blessed.
I love life; I have a deep desire not just to live but to really live life to the full. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll never see me bungee 160 feet off London Bridge or sky dive in the air after having jumped out of a plane 15,000 feet in the sky! My desire to live life to the full is not to seek adrenaline highs but to experience all my five senses in a deep way as much as possible, as often as possible, not taking a single moment for granted.
I’m not satisfied to simply taste, see, touch smell and hear; I deeply desire to really taste things, to see the minute details in everything my eyes look at, to really connect to everything my hands touch, to feel the life and texture in everything I put my hands on. My deep desire is to take in all the smells around me. Not just listen, but simultaneously hear all the different sounds going on around me at any given time and have the ability to separate and appreciate each one.
Right now, I’m sitting in my conservatory writing this. The windows are open and I hear many different kinds of birds singing and chirping in my garden. I hear quieter sweet sounding ones and the louder ones squawking. I hear children laughing and playing in the distance, the sound of my husband rustling around in the room next door and the clinking of his fingers on his computer keys. My son stomping around upstairs. I see the variation in colour and size of the birds flying from tree to tree, branch to branch. The vibrant purple crocuses peeking out of the ground and the smallest of the tree branches waving at me in the soft wind whilst the thicker branches lay still, securely attached to their thick trunks.
The scented candle overwhelms the room with its fragrance but through the open window drifts in the smell of burning wood. The smell of the roast dinner also competes for smell space wafting in through the door behind me.
This for sure isn’t the adrenaline feeling some people want and enjoy, but this is what makes me feel alive. With the hustle and bustle of life, it’s not always easy to keep this perspective but I know it’s possible because I’ve practiced it on and off for the last six years.
If you know me, you will know I love Jesus and I believe the bible. Jesus said: ‘I came that you may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows’. (John 10: 10 AMP). It is my deep desire through my blogs to encourage people not to be satisfied with a mundane life, day in day out, week in week out. Not to be content with the hustle and bustle of life, with the odd adrenaline rush or holiday shoved in every now and then. Instead, to reach a place where despite the hustle and bustle of life, we can still truly live life to the full, until it overflows, hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling and touching at a deeper level, not taking any moment for granted.
We have the choice, to remain in that mundane place waiting for something different to happen, waiting for something to change or make the decision to enjoy being in the ‘now’ and squeeze the best out of life, the best out of every moment despite life’s up’s and down’s.
It’s worth a go, what do you have to lose, let abundant life radiate from you.
